On the 21st August I facilitated a workshop on strategies for gender equity in STEM for the 2nd STEM in Defence Summit held at the Hyatt, Canberra. The three themes of action were:
1. You can’t be what you can’t see
2. If you’re not consciously including you’re unconsciously excluding
3. Embedding gender equity into systems and processes
I showcased actions for gender equity, and D&I, from my work wt Swinburne University of Technology Engineering Practice Academy, Arup, and through Science & Technology Australia’s Superstars of STEM program. This workshop engaged participants to make some everyday changes for a problem that doesn’t just exist in STEM – but exists in our everyday lives.
